Ede I. Nemeti, FAIA
Ede Nemeti launched his architectural career in Hungary. After graduating from high school (gymnasium) combined with a two years equivalency examination from the Fine Arts Lyceum, Mr. Nemeti attended the Technical University of Budapest in the Department of Architecture. Following the events of 1956, he moved to the United States, where he completed postgraduate work and research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Nemeti hold a National Council of Architectural Registration Boards Certificate, and is registered as an architect in the state of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Michigan, New York and Texas. He was elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects in 1990. Mr. Nemeti has completed internationally recognized projects in twenty-four countries, employed state-of-the-art design standards, project management and construction technology. In 1964, Mr. Nemeti became a design partner with John Kelley Associates of San Francisco. The firm designed several healthcare projects in the San Francisco Bay area. In 1967, he was a Principal in the programming and planning of Healthcare Delivery System for the greater Saigon Area, sponsored by USAID. In 1968, Mr. Nemeti was in charge of the recommencement of upgrading and construction of Medical City in Baghdad, Iraq. Later in 1968 he became an International Principal and Regional Director for East and Southeast Asia for Whiting Associates International, and subsequently conducted his own successful consulting practice on a variety of international projects. A recipient of a major grant from the China Medical Board of New York, he consulted on medical and educational facility programs allocated for sixteen medical schools in East and Southeast Asia. He was Design Principal for the 1167 bed Seoul National University teaching hospital. Mr. Nemeti joined 3D/International in 1975, and until he left in 1984, severed as Principal, Vice President of International Construction Services, Senior Vice President and Director of Operation for East and Southeast Asia and as an advisory board member of the Board of Directors. With 3D.International, he was the Principal-In-Charge of construction services in the U.A.E. on the Dubai Hyatt Regency, the Inter-Continental Hotels in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain; in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the Riyadh Inter-Continental, the Nassryah Royal Guest Palace. In conjunction with design and implementation programs on hotel projects, his firm was also responsible for undertaking the largest single project in Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Palace. He was also Principal-In-Charge of the identity program for Alia, the Royal Jordan Airlines, which continues to use this program today. In Southeast Asia, Mr. Nemeti was Principal-In-Charge of such prestigious projects as the Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the IBM Tower in Singapore. Mr. Nemeti founded his own architectural practice in 1984, with a clientele that is substantially international. In 1989, he formed Architectural Services International, Inc., located in Houston, Texas, where he holds the position of President and Chief Operating Executive.
